The specifications of your content will, of course, vary depending on your unique individual needs. In general, however, I incorporate specific techniques into my article and blog posts:

Length / Word Count - I understand that some customers prefer a specific word count, however, I do not believe this restriction is conducive to a quality finish. When it comes to the length of a blog post or an article, I prefer to focus on the topic thoroughly and in an interesting way, rather than to focus on how close I am to the requested word count. Have you ever read an article that just felt lengthy and dull and just thought to yourself, "oh, get to the point already!". I have, and I find that this usually comes into play when a word count is desperately trying to be reached. This is also one of the reasons why I charge an hourly rate, rather than a per word rate; rates based on length too often produce poor-quality, watered down, repetitive, boring content.

Formatting - I use MLA style formatting in my writing. The only point you will notice with this style of writing is that I will use a comma before the last item in a list of items. For example: red, green, yellow, and purple VS red, green, yellow and purple (no comma).

SEO - I always incorporate industry-specific key terms and phrases into my content. This essential search engine optimization technique offers value. But I will not flood the text with key word after key word, which can make the test sound choppy and far too sales-ey. This offers a poor reading experience for your user, and search engines do not like that you are trying to trick them by flooding the content with key words. Instead I incorporate the terms in a natural way using conversational tone.

Accuracy - Grammar

Authoritative Messaging - Search engines love when you are an authority in the field. To achieve this, you need to have various content-rich pages throughout your website that provide one-of-a-kind, in-depth information on the specific topic. That is why I always create content that is 100% unique to you; no duplicating information found elsewhere on the web. This is also why I recommend creating a multitude of articles and blogs related to your industry to set your website as a one-stop place for questions and information about the subject.
